After-hours Concert: TNTeague

Saturday, November 16, 2024 (6:30 PM - 7:30 PM) (CST)

Description

Join us for an after-hours concert in the main lobby as we welcome TNTeague for the first time!

TNTeague, the father and son duo of Liam Teague and Jaden Teague-Núñez, offers an exciting, eclectic, and unique blend of music that includes calypso, jazz, classical and ragtime.

16-year-old Jaden Teague-Núñez is a multi-instrumentalist (steelpan, piano and percussion) and recently created history when he became the first steelpan player to win the 2024 Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition.

Liam Teague is one of the world’s leading steelpan virtuosos and serves as professor of music and director of steelpan studies at Northern Illinois University.

Throughout the performance, the group will speak about the history of steel pan and where it originated. At the end, the audience will be invited to briefly play the instrument.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available while supplies last. No registration is required.

This concert is sponsored by the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation at the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
