World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk
World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk
Friday, June 20, 2025 (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) (CDT)
Description
June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month & June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Abuse against older adults and persons with disabilities is a largely hidden and growing social, moral, and legal issue internationally.
To bring attention to this matter, Elder Care Services and DeKalb County TRIAD will partner to host their annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk.
The walk is free and will take place on Friday, June 20, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, starting and ending in the lobby of the Kishwaukee Health & Wellness Center
Participants are encouraged to wear purple in support of the cause. Attendees may elect to walk for the entire duration of the event or just a portion of it, coming and going as they please.
While the walk is scheduled to be an outdoor event, in the event of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors.
