Johnson Oil Company, founded in 1959, is a privately held family operated business. Three generations of family strive daily to deliver the experience customers have come to know and count on from Johnson Oil Company. Nearly 60 years ago, Art and Darlene Johnson made the decision to purchase their first truck and go into business. In the beginning, Johnson Oil Company delivered Shell branded heating-oil to local residence during the winter months and provided lawn services during the summer months. Over the years the company continued to grow and transform with the changing times. In 1965, the first gas station was purchased in Amboy, Illinois. Growth of the business continued in 1967 with the purchase of three additional gas stations located in Dixon, Franklin Grove and Polo, Illinois. Expansion into Iowa occurred in 1972   with the purchase of three gas stations located in Clinton, Iowa. In 1979, the first convenience store was developed. As a result of exciting changes in the gas station industry, the traditional gas station located in Rock Falls, Illinois on Route 30 was remodeled into a convenience store. This transformation allowed the store to offer many additional new food and merchandise items to customers. As gas service stations continued to transform into convenience stores, ExpressLane Gas and Food, Inc. was established in 1985.In 2011, Johnson Oil ExpressLane became dual branded with the purchase of BP branded convenience stores. Johnson Oil ExpressLane is embedded in the communities it touches and prides itself on giving back. The company provides a positive work environment with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
